Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright)

Felix Leiter
 is a fictional character invented by Ian Fleming in the James Bond books, who also appears in the Bond movies. In the films, Leiter works for the CIA, and assists Bond in his various adventures. He was portrayed by Jeffrey Wright in the 2006 film Casino Royale and the 2008 film Quantum of Solace. He also appears in the 2018 film Risico.

Casino Royale Edit

At the Casino Royale in Montenegro Leiter plays in the high-stakes poker game againstJames Bond and Le Chiffre. Unable to beat Le Chiffre, Leiter backs Bond with a $5 million buy in, after Bond misreads Le Chiffre's bluff, under the agreement that the CIA be the ones to arrest Le Chiffre after the game.

Quantum of Solace Edit

Later, Felix and Gregg Beam work withMedrano's regime to ensure American gets oil rights in Bolivia when Medrano becomes president by force. Leiter informs Bond of these dealings at a bar in La Paz, briefly informs him that their time window to talk is 30 seconds and warns him that the Bolivian government is after him. Bond escapes at the last minute just as authorities burst into the bar they're in and eventually goes on to defeat Medrano.M later informs Bond that Leiter has been promoted within the CIA.

Risico Edit

Production Edit

Casino Royale rebooted the franchise, which allowed Leiter to re-appear and he and Bond meet for the first time in the film. Early script drafts for Quantum of Solacegave Wright a larger role, but his screen time was restricted by on-set rewrites. Wright became the second actor to play the role of Leiter multiple times afterDavid Hedison in 1973's Live and Let Die and 1989's Licence to Kill.
